This Week in Asia Episode 39: Gen Kanai from Mozilla

TWiA-logo An old friend of the show, Gen Kanai (@Gen), Director of Asia Business Development at Mozilla, will be coming down to Echelon 2010. He will be presenting different case studies on how start-ups utilize browser add-ons to grow and retain users. In our special interview series, we chat with Gen directly from TEDxTokyo where he tells us about the growth of Firefox in Indonesia, the interesting features which will pop up in Firefox 4.0, the issue on security of internet banking in South Korea, and what he expects from the coming Echelon 2010 conference on 1st and 2nd June 2010.

About Gen Kanai: Gen Kanai is Director of Asia Business Development and is a member of the Evangelism Team for Mozilla, a California-based not-for-profit organization which manages and freely distributes the popular Mozilla Firefox web browser. Firefox is the free and open source web browser of choice for over 350 million Internet users worldwide in over 70 different languages. Prior to Mozilla, Gen worked for Digital Garage, Technorati Japan, Sony Marketing of Japan, Sony Electronics Inc. and Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. Gen is a fellow of the US-Japan Leadership Program as well as a fellow of the Asia Society’s Asia 21 Young Leaders Initiative. Gen has a BA from Dartmouth College, was born and raised in New York City and currently resides in Tokyo.
